We have been collaborating with the Island Pond Health Center to provide dental care to Canaan Students enrolled in our dental program for the last 5 years. Priority is given to students already enrolled in this program or those who are without a dentist and or lack dental care for greater than a year.
Students who fall into this category are determined by the data completed on all students' yearly Health Emergency Form
.
Over the last 3 days, 33 students received a dental cleaning, 7 students received sealants, and 10 students received a SDF (Silver Diamine Fluoride) treatment. SDF is a preventative liquid applied to teeth that show signs of decay. This liquid works to stop decay and remineralizer the teeth, hopefully preventing the need for further treatment.
We are so grateful for this collaboration to improve the dental care of our students.
