Grant 2024

Canaan Schools and Consolidated Communications celebrate a $5,000 grant award from Consolidated Communications' Consolidated Connects Educational Grant program. Grant funds will support upgrades to classroom technology at Canaan Schools.

Canaan Schools has been awarded a $5,000 grant to support classroom technology upgrades from Consolidated Communications’ Consolidated Connects Educational Grant Program. Consolidated joined students, teachers and faculty in celebrating the grant award at a check presentation during a school assembly on Friday, May 10.

This grant will allow Canaan Schools to enhance technology available in the classroom, providing students with increased opportunities to engage with one another through interactive programs and lesson materials that focus on exercise, movement and balancing skills.

“We are tremendously grateful to Consolidated Communications for their generous grant supporting our youngest learners,” said Jennifer Lawcewicz, superintendent at Essex North Supervisory Union. “Research has shown that young children learn better when engaged in activities that involve multiple modalities such as those that involve music, movement, and visuals. We are excited to have the opportunity to expand our use of technology to support learning in our preschool classroom.”

“Through our Consolidated Connects Educational Grant Program we are increasing access for students to learn, grow and thrive through programs like the usage of classroom technology at Canaan Schools,” said Scott Brooks, director of government affairs for Consolidated. “Investing in education initiatives like this these make our communities stronger and Consolidated is proud to support the Canaan community and its youth through this grant.”

The Consolidated Connects Educational Grant Program funds K-12 schools within the company’s service area that provide innovative, technology-focused learning programs to advance creative student learning, develop 21st century skills and promote critical thinking. Since 2021, the program has granted more than $160,000 to 52 schools, impacting more than 14,500 students in the company’s service area.
